Those in the business of UK science communication are no doubt looking forward to the British Association’s sci-com conference on 19–20 May.
The speaker list reads like a who’s-who of science communicators, and keynotes come from broadcaster Melvyn Bragg and science minister Ian Pearson. (Full programme in PDF format.)
The normal cost would be £115, but thanks to the largesse of the Wellcome Trust and DIUS up to 32 bursaries will be offered, covering conference costs plus travel and accommodation.
To apply for a bursary, you need to fit one of the following catagories:
• UK science communication students
• Freelancers/microbusiness (fewer than 10 employees)
• Campaigning groups
• Scientists/engineers involved in public engagement
You can apply online, and the deadline is 14 April.
One panelist is a science reporter for the Daily Mail. I didn’t realise such a beast existed. Could be fun if a few of the sceptical community are there, though.
