        <![CDATA[<p>Collaboration grants &#8211; population and systems medicine</p>


	<p>The Medical Research Council invites applications for its collaboration grants in the area of population and systems medicine. These are available to holders of <span class="caps">MRC</span> research grants, new investigator research grants and senior fellowships, who wish to promote and enhance collaboration between themselves and other researchers working in complementary research. Awards may last between two and five years and provide funding at a rate of 80 per cent of full economic costs to cover:</p>


	<p>•shared activities, such as shared research infrastructure (equipment or staff) and seminars and workshops;</p>


	<p>•indirect costs or overheads on staff salaries awarded through the scheme.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p>1)    Call for <a href="http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=usersite.FP7DetailsCallPage&#38;CALL_ID=121">Marie Curie Initial Training Networks proposals</a><br />A call for Marie Curie Initial Training Networks is now open. As a broad summary, the funding is available to support the establishment of training networks for early stage researchers (such as MSc and PhD students).The key facts are summarised in the attached word document. The closing date for this call is  2nd September 2008.</p>


	<p>Genesis Faraday would be willing to assist members with applications for funding. However, we would not write the scientific content within the application, and would be unlikely to wish to manage any projects successfully funded. Several members have already expressed an interest in participation in this call. We have the resources to assist with 2 or 3 applications maximum, and if we do receive many requests for assistance, we will have to select which applications we assist. Priority will be given to projects which;<br />1)    Have a well defined project idea<br />2)    Have identified other potential consortium members with complementary expertise and from at least two additional Member States<br />3)    Are lead by people who show a keen willingness to be involved, to take the scientific lead for the application, and to co-ordinate the project if funded.<br />4) Have industrial involvement<br />If you would like Genesis Faraday to provide assistance with an application, please reply, providing the details specified above by May 16th 2008.<br />If you have ideas about potential applications and would like to discuss possible projects/consortia and how we might help bring together an application, then please contact your Technology Translator or info@genesis-faraday.org</p>


	<p>2) Call for <span class="caps">COST</span> proposals &#8211; European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST)<br /><span class="caps">COST</span> brings together researchers and experts in different countries working on specific topics. <span class="caps">COST</span> does <span class="caps">NOT</span> fund research itself, but supports networking activities such as meetings, conferences, short term scientific exchanges and outreach activities. Currently more than 200 scientific networks (Actions) are supported. Proposals should include researchers from a minimum of five <span class="caps">COST</span> countries. 	<p>3) <span class="caps">OECD</span> funding for Fellowships  &#38; Conferences <br />Fellowships Funding: Applications are invited from research scientists for funding for research projects in a collaborating host institution. The <span class="caps">CRP </span>Fellowship scheme funds fellowships from 2 to 26 weeks.  Funding is available to cover travel and subsistence costs. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of a country that currently participates in the <span class="caps">OECD </span>Co-operative Research Programme, and the collaborating host institution must be located in another participating country. Applicants should have completed their postdoctoral training, should have a permanent position, and upon completion of the Fellowship, the candidate should return to employment with his/her laboratory of origin. 	<p>Conference Funding: Applications are invited for sponsorship or co-sponsorship of Conferences. Funding is available to cover travel and associated expenses for invited speakers, and a contribution towards publication of the proceedings.
