DESCRIPTION:The Daphne Jackson Trust and the British Computer Society have
joined forces to organise a discussion forum* on emerging research fields w
here the Biosciences and IT overlap.
\n
\nThis is a huge emerging growth ar
ea\, including bioinformatics and e-science (recently identified by both BB
SRC and EPSRC as cross-committee priority areas)\, and has the potential to
attract talented graduates\, both with biological sciences and IT backgrou
 nds.
\n
\nThe aim of this forum is to explore the topical issues and caree
r opportunities in these emerging areas. A briefing document will be produc
ed afterwards that aimed at potential returners or graduates who wish to ma
ke a career change and enter these new fields.
\n
\nSpeakers and delegates
at the forum will include representatives of professional societies and fu
nding organisations\; active researchers\; researchers interested in develo
ping courses to help scientists bridge the knowledge and technology gap bet
ween biosciences and computing sciences\; and graduates or returners lookin
 g for new opportunities.
\n
\n
\n_This forum forms part of the BCS and Daph
ne Jackson Trust’s continuing commitment to the Equalitec project. _
