DESCRIPTION:A non-assessed course for beginners in the study of human skele
 tal remains. This is a practical class\, involving the study of skeletons u
 sing the Museum of London's enormous collection of human bones from archaeo
 logical excavations dating from the Roman period onwards. The course will c
 over basic skeletal anatomy and how age and sex are estimated from human sk
 eletal remains. Participants will learn which bones are important to measur
 e and what these measurements can tell us about physique and stature. The s
 keletons will be used to show health status\, common diseases and trauma.  
 There will be a focus on the analysis\, identification and recording of hum
 an remains.

\nThere will also be a visit to the Wellcome Trust in July 
 2008 to the 'Skeletons' exhibition. No previous knowledge is required.
