DESCRIPTION:Recently there have been many exciting advances in the analytic
 al tools and strategies applied in metabolomic studies\, and an expansion o
 f the range of areas in which this approach is being used.

\nThis meeti
 ng brings together leading researchers who are exploiting major advances in
  chromatographic methods linked with powerful mass spectrometer detectors\,
  as well as in NMR spectroscopy\, and associated data manipulation and anal
 ysis tools. They are applying these methods in studies of the impacts of ge
 netic modifi cation\, disease\, nutrition\, and exposure to toxicants on me
 tabolism in a wide range of organisms including micro-organisms\, higher pl
 ants\, and invertebrates. This symposium aims to provide an overview of the
  current position in some important areas\, and insight into the direction 
 in which this rapidly developing field is moving.
