Description
The Photostability of Drugs Interest Group &
The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences
This prestigious and focussed international meeting is aimed at pharmaceutical and analytical scientists who are involved in the design and execution of photostability and phototoxicity studies; project managers who need to know about the impact of photostability issues on drug development and pharmaceutical industry users who need to identify critical issues in the management of photostability studies.
The optional one-day photostability course (1st October) provides a comprehensive background on the scientific, regulatory and practical issues in pharmaceutical photostability testing. Speakers will be experts in their fields drawn from Academia and the pharmaceutical Industry.
The succeeding two day scientific conference will allow participants to consider all aspects of the photostability of drug substances and their formulations, including photochemistry and photophysics; light protection of drugs and formulation of photosensitive drugs; choice and calibration of irradiation sources; experimental set up and testing protocols; analytical techniques for screening of photoreactivity; photobiological testing and related phototoxicity; photodynamic therapy.
There will be ample opportunity to informally mix with, and learn from, experts in these fields including at the planned social events.
On each day there will be a “brains trust” session where a panel of experts will answer questions from delegates on a particular issue they may be having in this important area. There will also be a vendor exhibition to aid delegates in accessing goods and services in this field.
We also invite submission of papers or posters in any of these areas for consideration by the international steering committee. Abstracts should be submitted via the web site (www.photostability.org) as soon as possible and in any case by the end of June 2008.
