Description
With a 33-year background devising imaginative ways of teaching visual art and visual thinking to diverse groups of adults in London and the South East, Chris Gough’s own production ran on parallel tracks sometimes separate from, sometimes interacting with and often reflecting on discoveries made in the teaching world. The talk will tease out some of the formal, sensuous and procedural threads that weave into works made since 1992. The focus will be on the interaction of material, number, sequence, and control. The proportion of art to maths might be a discussion point.
Chris trained as a painter at the Central School and Slade School of Fine Art and in 1991 became a printmaker, remaining on paper to the present day and recently working on a variety of different sized panel pieces engaging with issues of repetition and variation and overlaying past with present.
