Description

Have you ever wondered about the scale of our galaxy and where the Sun and the planets are located? The Sun, our local star, is one of over 100 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, a spinning spiral disc over 100,000 light years across; and our galaxy is but one of over 100 billion galaxies in the universe.

This 6-week astronomy course explores the structure, size and composition of the galaxy by means of seminars, planetarium sessions and telescopic observation when the skies are clear.

With Dr John Griffiths, astronomy educator, Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
