Description

The exploitation of the underground temperature differential of the earth for heating and cooling buildings is a well established technology in northern Europe and America, but in the UK it is only in recent years that we have seen its potential as an important contributor to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

To coincide with the Building Centre’s Underground: London’s Hidden Infrastructure exhibition we are showing a number of recent projects which are introducing the underground heat exchange technology to the city.

Three approaches will be presented: underground thermal storage, energy piles and ground to air heat exchange, all of which are illustrated with recent projects and case studies.

Speakers include Richard Shennan of Fulcrum/IFTEC on the use of boreholes and aquifers in London, Tony Amis of Cementation on the use of Energy Piles and Mark Skelly of Skelly ad Couch with Mike Moseley of Rehau on Ground to air heat exchange.
