Description
Mosquitoes transmit some of the deadliest diseases to inflict humans – malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, encephalitis, to name just a few. Malaria alone affects more than 100 tropical countries and causes up to three million deaths each year, mainly among children under the age of five. Researchers at the Museum study mosquitoes to learn more about malaria and to find ways to stop the spread of this deadly disease.
