Description

MUSEOMICS: large-scale gene sequencing and museum research

Recent advances in high-throughput gene sequencing have allowed the field of genetics and genomics to take yet another quantum leap. On this year’s leap day, why not learn how this new technology might create exciting opportunities for your current and future research?

From rapid whole genome shotgun sequencing of living and extinct archival taxa to environmental sampling, microbial diversity assessment, metagenomics and phylogenomics, learn how a wealth of new gene and genome data from previously intractable sources is within reach. Speakers with hands-on experience in these fields will be presenting 30min talks with ample time for questions.

The meeting is free and open to all.

Speakers include:

Prof. Stephan Schuster

Prof. Neil Hall

Dr. Richard Copley

Dr. Tom Gilbert

Dr. James Hartwell

Dr. Tom Richards
