Communication skills training – course programme

At a glance…
The Communication skills course equips scientists with the skills to communicate their science on a non-technical level, clearly and confidently to a variety of audiences.

A summary of the course content is:
• A briefing session to establish the areas to be covered.
• Basic writing and editing skills for different audiences, including press releases.
• How to get key messages across clearly and concisely, avoiding jargon and unnecessary technical terms.
• How to write a presentation in your own words.
• A series of presentations of increasing complexity which will be reviewed and discussed constructively.
• Question and answer sessions based on the presentations.
