Description
The Daphne Jackson Trust and the British Computer Society have joined forces to organise a discussion forum* on emerging research fields where the Biosciences and IT overlap.
This is a huge emerging growth area, including bioinformatics and e-science (recently identified by both BBSRC and EPSRC as cross-committee priority areas), and has the potential to attract talented graduates, both with biological sciences and IT backgrounds.
The aim of this forum is to explore the topical issues and career opportunities in these emerging areas. A briefing document will be produced afterwards that aimed at potential returners or graduates who wish to make a career change and enter these new fields.
Speakers and delegates at the forum will include representatives of professional societies and funding organisations; active researchers; researchers interested in developing courses to help scientists bridge the knowledge and technology gap between biosciences and computing sciences; and graduates or returners looking for new opportunities.
This forum forms part of the BCS and Daphne Jackson Trust’s continuing commitment to the Equalitec project.
