Description

PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS of The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene

The Address will review the changing global health environment suggesting that current policy and focus will not achieve the MDG targets in health as a route to poverty reduction unless the problems of the poorest populations afflicted by the “other diseases” of MDG 6 are solved. These “other diseases” contrast with the “Big Three” (AIDS, TB and malaria) as there are demonstrably successful and highly cost effective interventions available which have an impact on the most important measure of public health success – a reduction in incidence.
