Description
Water makes up more than 50 per cent of the body weight. Cellular function requires a fluid medium with a carefully controlled composition and mechanical environment. The lecture will describe how the study on extracellular fluid helps to reveal the underlining mechanism in physiological systems and provide engineering strategies in biomedical research.
Biography: Wen Wang is Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Materials Science and Director of the College’s Joint Research Centre for Bio-Engineering and Materials at Southern Medical University. He has been engaged in physiological fluid studies since 1989. He joined Queen Mary in 1999 and had his current chair in 2003.
