Description
The replacement of stoichiometric reagents for synthetic transformations by catalytic routes presents great opportunities for ‘greener’, safer and more economic manufacturing processes. Major companies (Astra Zeneca, Glaxo-Smith-Kline and Pfizer) in the pharmaceuticals industry have identifi ed a priority list of important reactions. The organizers of this symposium set out the challenge to researchers in universities and industry. How can these reactions be carried out catalytically? Our idea was to combine an industrial perspective on this group of reactions with academic reports on the ‘state of the art’ science. We received many offers of interesting papers and we have selected seven of them for our symposium. We have an exciting programme which will be of great interest to industrial and academic researchers, especially those involved in route design and chemical process development.
The SCI Fine Chemicals Group and RSC Applied Catalysis Group are pleased to offer bursaries for students with posters to attend this conference. This is limited to eight places for the conference. To qualify for zero cost registration, please submit your poster abstract to pamela.hardy@soci.org as early as possible. You will be notified if you have been selected to present your poster. The RSC Applied Catalysis Group will provide some travel bursaries to students who are members of the RSC, subject to available funding. If you wish to apply for a travel bursary, please complete the registration form and tick the appropriate box.
