Description
Towards Indicators of Scientific Culture
On 5-6 November 2007, a discussion meeting will be held at the Royal Society, organised by Martin W Bauer (LSE, Social Psychology & BIOS) and Rajesh Shukla (NCAER, Delhi). 25 researchers from Europe, North and South America, India, China, Korea, Japan, South Africa, and Australia will assess the state of the art of ‘public understanding of science’ research with a view to the construction and benchmarking of globally valid indicators of ‘scientific culture’ and the integration of subjective and objective science indicators. The meeting includes a public event (by invitation) on Monday evening, 5th November at the RS, with Ian Pearson, the UK Minister for Science & Innovation, as the key note speaker in discussion with participants of the workshop.
