Description

College lectures reflect the widespread interests of physicians today, balancing clinical topics with public policy issues, historical perspectives with future challenges.

The lecture programme offers an opportunity to hear leading experts speak on a wide range of topics, from cutting-edge research in medicine and science to historical and political perspectives. Lectures are held at the College and at regional centres and attendance is free of charge.

Funding for some of the lectures, which are all free of charge to attend, comes from centuries-old bequests from eminent physicians – including William Harvey, who discovered the circulation of the blood.

These links with our heritage often have direct relevance to physicians today, for example, Harvey’s instructions from 1656 for the lecture includes encouraging Fellows and Members of the College “to search and Study out the secrett of Nature by way of Experiment”!
