Description

The Calculating your carbon footprint course offers an introduction to the methods that can be used by organisations to estimate the carbon dioxide emissions due to their activities. It is oriented towards those who are responsible for, or wanting to:
• Understand how the carbon emissions that result from their organisation’s activities can be estimated.
• Quantify the environmental impact of their organisation’s activities.
• Develop a strategy to reduce their carbon footprint and work towards being ‘carbon neutral’.
• Make the case for investment to reduce their carbon emissions.

The aim of this course is to introduce the concept of carbon footprinting by looking at methods of calculating and monitoring the carbon emissions from a range of activities that are likely to be relevant to any organisation, and how to set realistic targets for reducing these.

Aims of the course:
• Understanding the importance of and the potential for reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
• Awareness of the range of direct and indirect sources of carbon dioxide emissions.
• Providing a methodology that can be applied to the assessment of the carbon footprint of a building/organisation.
• Be able to set targets for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from a building/organisation.
