Description
We are living in an age that ecologists are calling the Sixth Extinction.
However it is not just plants and animals that are becoming extinct at an alarming rate (one species every 10 minutes for animals, one vegetable variety every 6 hours); languages, traditions, and cultures are also disappearing from our world, never to return. Award winning Canadian author, Terry Glavin, has tirelessly researched these precious thigns we are losing fast. As he explores the history of extinctions, Glavin uncovers the hidden story of a long human struggle to conserve the living things in the world, and finds hope in unexpected places.
Terry Glavin is a Canadian author and journalist. Among his best known works is “The Last Great Sea”, a history of the North Pacific Ocean, which was nominated for both the Bill Duthie Prize and the Roderick Haig-Brown PPrizem and was the winner of the Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize.
