Description
This five day course is designed specifically for beginners and enthusiastic amateurs. A series of lectures, demonstrations and microscope practicals will give a comprehensive introduction to the world of plants. Topics include: divisions of the plant kingdom, basic classification, nomenclature and identification, cell functions, pollination, seed development, photosynthesis, respiration, environment, adaptation and the major vegetative zones of the world.
In addition, ‘behind the scenes’ visits to several of the various departments in the Gardens will also be arranged including a trip to the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst Place in Sussex.
