Description
This two day conference is organised by members of the IET’s Healthcare Technologies Network Executive Team in collaboration with supporting organisations. With a membership consisting of both hospital based clinical sciences and industry based engineering, this event aims to bring together both the developers and the users/purchasers of medical electrical devices and technology.
Day one of this event will look at the reality of medical technology today and will consider wireless and non-wireless networking in the hospital. Day two will focus on the move of healthcare from the hospital to the home. There will be discussion on what is achievable and how technology can support this.
In this increasingly interdisciplinary area it is now more than ever critical to have good communications between the involved parties. By taking time out to attend this event you will benefit from the following:
> rounded sessions targeted at answering key questions
> presentations from key speakers representing industry, academia and the hospital
> panel discussions at the end of each session to fully involve the audience
> refreshments throughout the day with an associated exhibition
> meeting areas for one-on-one conversations
> networking and drinks prior to the Healthcare Technologies annual lecture and dinner
- Registration required:
- Yes
- Free:
- No

Network Background
The IET’s Healthcare Technologies Network pools together expertise from clinical sciences, engineering, information & computer science, and bioinformatics. It is the coherent focus of the Network in this highly interdisciplinary field that makes it unique within the IET. Its members are actively involved in various British Standards Institute Committees. The Network is also linked with the Association of Institutions concerned with Medical Engineering (AIME), which aims to promote medical engineering as a profession and co-ordinate activities across its many disciplines. The Institution of Engineering and Technology provides the current Chair and Secretariat for AIME.
