Description
Launch event and debate of a major research survey entitled “Public Attitudes to, and Perceptions of, Engineering and Engineers”
The report was jointly commissioned by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Engineering and Technology Board and explores society’s outlook on engineering and its impact on the world. In addition to providing a baseline measure of the public’s knowledge and understanding, the study incorporated some interesting and creative methodologies to explore the drivers of engagement, and probed the reasons for ‘mis-perceptions’ of engineering. This event will present the results of the survey and provide the opportunity to explore the issues that emerged.
The presentation and discussion of the survey’s findings will be followed by an open-floor debate. Five panel members will fuel the debate by each presenting their proposal to change the face of engineering.
