Description
A special lecture to mark the centenary of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. The mission of the Society is to promote and advance the study, control, prevention and treatment of tropical diseases, to facilitate discussion, exchange of information and promotion of the health of those affected by tropical diseases. This lecture explores the ways in which infectious diseases spread as a result of conquests and wars, and the realisation by colonial powers that it was in their interest to bring health to indigenous populations.
