Description
Abstract: As a background, Japan has improved the road safety performance by setting targets and by promoting various activities including encouragement, enforcement, education, and engineering works.
After recent drastic achievements, we still have to focus on high risk road segments and/or targets continuously. However it is difficult to identify potentially hazardous targets clearly because of the nature of accident occurrence and fragmented statistical data. The basic generalized linear models (GLMs) have been applied to evaluate historical progress on road safety performance in both aggregate and disaggregate level. Based on the results and comparison to the U.K., some findings for the next step are shown in the seminar.
