Description

What was life really like for Roman Londoners? What were their homes like? To celebrate National Archaeology Weekend, come and see how the Romans built their houses and what went on inside them! There will be demonstrations of woodworking, building techniques, basket-making and other crafts and a chance to see what Roman Londoners wore ¿ from shoes to make-up! Museum curators, archaeologists and conservators will be on hand to show you the real thing. So, come and peer down microscopes to see what they ate; watch conservators preserving our Roman past and see some of the surviving evidence from Roman London. Find out what all this can tell us about life at home in Londinium. As well as all this, there will be drama sessions in the Roman Gallery and family activities in the Museum garden near the reconstructed Roman water-lifting machine and, while you are there, work like a slave to find out how Roman Londoners got their drinking water.
