This event seeks to encourage a more holistic approach towards thinking about energy security, and will mark the launch of the publication Oil Wars, edited by Mary Kaldor, Terry Karl and Yahia Said.

Mary Kaldor is Professor of Global Governance and co-director, Centre for the Study of Global Governance, LSE. Yahia Said is research fellow, Centre for the Study of Global Governance, LSE and head of the Middle East Revenue Watch Programme, Open Society Institute. George Soros is chairman of the Open Society Institute. Professor Sir Nicholas Stern is the IG Patel Professor of Economics & Government at LSE.

The Open Society Institute (OSI), a private operating and grantmaking foundation, aims to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and social reform. On a local level, OSI implements a range of initiatives to support the rule of law, education, public health, and independent media. At the same time, OSI works to build alliances across borders and continents on issues such as combating corruption and rights abuses.

The Centre for the Study of Global Governance is a leading international institution dedicated to research, analysis and dissemination about global governance. Based at the London School of Economics, the Centre aims to increase understanding and knowledge of global issues, to encourage interaction between academics, policy makers, journalists and activists, and to propose solutions.

This event is free and open to all however a ticket is required.

One ticket per person can be requested from 10.00am on Monday 25 June.

Members of the public, LSE staff and alumni can request one ticket via the online ticket request form which will be live on this weblisting from 10.00am on Monday 25 June.

LSE students are able to collect one ticket from the LSESU reception, located on the ground floor of the East Building from 10.00am on Monday 25 June.
