Description
This course is for health care professionals who want to become more efficient at using the best available research evidence in their day to day decisions about patients. This course will use examples of clinical problems in child health, although the skills learnt are generic and relevant to all health professionals.
Aims of the course
The course introduces health professionals to the skills required for evidence-based practice.
These include how to:
> frame answerable questions from practice or policy problems
> find the best available evidence to answer the question
> critically appraise research for its validity and usefulness
> incorporate the findings into decisions
Who should attend?
Previous experience in using research evidence to inform decisions is an advantage but not essential. This course is designed for participants who primarily want to practice, rather than teach, evidence-based practice. The course is based on practice and policy problems in child health and is relevant to professionals from all sectors of the health and social services.
