Description

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is one of the largest experiments ever built, involving thousands of people, billions of pounds and decades of work. Its aim is to recreate the conditions that existed a billionth of a second after the Big Bang and to understand how and why the Universe exists as it does.

Based at CERN on the Franco-Swiss border, the main structure of the LHC is a 27km ring buried deep underground. At its heart, particles hurtle around the ring at almost the speed of light.

This exhibition, in the Antenna science news gallery, will feature a combination of objects, video, images and interactives and aims to increase our understanding of energy, matter, space and time. Exhibition sponsored by Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC).
