Description

Woolly Mammoth. Photogrpahy Copyright Walking With Beasts TM & BBC 2001
Enter the amazing world of beasts that lived on earth 49 million years after the dinosaurs died out. Come face to face with the models used in the BBC’s Walking With Beasts programme. Meet life-sized sabre-toothed tigers, magnificent mammoths, woolly rhinos and our early ancestors. Discover a world where birds (Gastorni) were so large they could eat small horses, where cats (smilodon) chased dogs, and elephants (Moeritherium) swam with fish! Walking With Beasts brings these incredible creatures to life and animates the story of the evolution of mammals and how they came to shape the planet today. Using a range of interactives, including the chance to watch yourself in a prehistoric landscape via blue-screen technology, discover more about the prehistoric world. Also on show is a 10,000 year old mammoth tusk and fossils from millions of years ago.
