There are always a plethora of wine- and food-centric events to attend in the city. But before you attend any of them, check out this lecture given a few years ago at the NYAS where tannin chemist, James Kennedy, gives a brief lecture on how tannins can effect the texture and astringency of wine.
Then catch an upcoming event at the NYAS discussing the science of taste. This is the fourth part of a five part series on the senses that began late last year.
As for eating and drinking, may I make two suggestions:
1. New York Magazine’s Agenda. Not only is this your link to NYC’s culture calendar, but you can search for food and wine events going on throughout the city. Editors picks offer some interesting options, like wine classes at a pizza shop.
2. You can also go for the big guns at the New York Wine Expo set to take place at the end of this month.
