Over 2100 people graduate from Imperial today during a ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.

It’s the plumpest number ever from the College, in its first year as an independent university.

Four honorary degrees were also awarded to distinguished sciency folk:

• Sir William Castell, Chairman of the Wellcome Trust
• Lord Wolfson of Marylebone, co-founder of the Wolfson Foundation
• Anne Lauvergeon, Chief Executive of nuclear energy company Areva
• Professor Christian Bréchot, cell biologist and hepatologist
