Description
Operating companies are required to assess the risks to occupants of onsite buildings in the event of a process plant accident. Such accidents may include fires, vapour cloud explosions, and releases of toxic gases. This risk assessment should be carried out through a staged screening approach which rapidly identifies those buildings that are at low risk, and allows attention to be focused on buildings that are most vulnerable. Potential solutions may range from risk reduction at source, building improvements, or even building relocation. The selection of a solution may require Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) to demonstrate that the risk has been reduced ‘As Low As Reasonably Practicable’ (ALARP).
The seminar will:
Address the main issues of managing occupied buildings
Explore HSE view
Share best practice from a range of companies
Pay particular attention to the issues arising from the use of temporary buildings on manufacturing sites
Chemical Industries Association
The location and design of occupied permanent and temporary buildings is one of the most important safety considerations for any employer. It is particularly true in respect of the chemical industry. Decisions relating to occupied buildings need to be carefully thought through before they are taken. The Chemical Industries Association has developed internationally recognised
advice and guidance on this topic.
Who should attend?
