Description
The aim of this event is to showcase the breadth and depth of existing climate research undertaken at UCL and to encourage interdisciplinary discussion and future research projects. The event is free and open to both the UCL community and to selected partner research organizations.
1 – 2pm South Cloisters for lunch and poster competition
2 – 5.30pm Talks: Anatomy Building JZ Young Lecture Theatre
Keynote Speaker: Prof. Chris Rapley ‘Humans, Energy, Climate: What next?’ introduced by Prof. Malcolm Grant
“A deep-time perspective on climate” Dr Paul Bown, UCL Earth Sciences
“Predicting the impacts of climate change”, Dr Richard Taylor, UCL Geography
“Weather and Climate Extremes: Research to Benefit Business and Humanitarian Relief”, Prof. Mark Saunders, UCL Department of Space and Climate Physics
“Climate change and future cities”, Prof. Yvonne Rydin, UCL Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment
There will be a strong focus on supporting early stage researchers in the form of a poster competition for the large and diverse group of post-graduate and post-doctoral climate researchers within UCL – cash prizes of up to £200. All researchers are strongly encouraged to display a poster of their current work as the poster sessions will form a substantial part of the meeting and be the basis for discussions between research groups; an abstract book and short research directory will be produced for the meeting. To submit a poster abstract (deadline 22 October) please register below and then further details will be sent to you.
