Description

Join us for a day filled with performance, interactive workshops and talks exploring the way music is performed, created and appreciated.

Workshops will be suitable for everyone, and no previous experience is necessary.

Sessions
The Science of Improvisation, 11.30-13.00
Join musicians, psychologists and neuroscientists as they explore how we can apply music to everyday life. Could improvisation help you to unlock your potential in other areas of thinking? What can jazz musicians teach us about paths of creativity?

This session will be followed by an optional workshop with Peter Lovatt from 13.00-13.45.
Swarm Music, 13.00-14.00, 14.30-15.30, 16.00-17.00

How can studying bees help us improvise? Join Swarm Music for an interactive musical improvisation session using computers.
Music Leaves a Mark, 14.00-16.00, with interval

Through film, discussion, performance and experiment, get an insight into the impact that playing has on musicians’ bodies and minds. What is musical technique, and what trace does practice leave on the body? Join our guests as they discuss the pleasures and dangers of professional musicianship.
