Description

A day of events to celebrate the history of medicine in London. Bringing together artists, scientists and historians to explore the health and wellbeing of the capital.

13.00-16.30, Forum
No need to book. Drop in any time.

Out loud – A reading by John Newling in relation to his project, ‘Make a Piano in Spain’.

‘Out loud’ is the first public reading of the 500 texts collected in response to the question, “what do you do to make yourself feel better?”

Saying something out loud is a particularly public action that seems to transform the materiality of the text. The ‘Out loud’ event will be a reading of a very human diagnosis: funny, revealing and moving.

_15.00-16.00, Wellcome Library _
_Places are limited, tickets will be available on the day at Wellcome Collection. _

Join archivist Chris Hilton to discover some of the London people and places that feature in the Wellcome Library’s collections and show different aspects of the city: racked with disease and crime; somewhere to escape; a teeming mass of vitality where the pedestrian can lose him or herself in the variety of the streets.

_Gallery tours _
There will be special gallery tours with a London theme at the following times. There’s no need to book – just meet your guide at the Information Point on the ground floor.
