Description
The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge of the underlying principles of desalination practices with respect to the design and operation of the technologies applied.
Course description
-raw water quality
-membrane processes (reverse osmosis, electrodialysis) design and operation
-evaporative processes (multi-stage flash and multiple effect)
-fouling and pre-treatment (scaling/plugging and their amelioration; cleaning)
-RO CAD demonstration
-case studies
-calculation of membrane design and operational parameters.
On successful completion of this course the delegate will be able to:
-An understanding of the underlying basic governing principles of desalination technologies design and operation.
-An introduction to the application of desalination technologies to potable water production from seawater and industrial effluent recycling.
-An opportunity to apply mathematical expressions based on the above to provide basic design and develop protocols for the operation of desalination technologies.
