Different leucocytes populations mature or differentiate either after antigenic encounter or under the influence of mediators at immune sites in vivo. This differentiation is associated with a change of the functional capacity of the cell. This profoundly affects the nature of an immune responses that involves either differentiated as opposed to non-differentiated cells and this may affect the outcome of various diseases. It is of particular interest that many cues that regulate the differentiation of leucocytes as well as the intracellular processes that are altered during the differentiation process have been identified recently. This offers the opportunity for possible therapeutic intervention in the future.

The purpose of this meeting is to assemble experts in the field who work on the differentiation and regulation of different leucocyte subsets including dendritic cells, macrophages, B cells and T cells to showcase recent insights into the control of leucocyte differentiation. In addition, we will also choose selected abstracts for short presentations during this meeting. The will be a poster session during the lunch break and also after the meeting when wine and nibbles will be provided to lubricate the scientific interchange.
