Description
Medical students and surgeons have traditionally studied the internal structure of the human body through patient and systematic dissection of preserved human remains. However, recent advances in 3D computer aided representations and CT and MR imaging have made available several alternative methods for the learning of anatomy. Vishy Mahadevan questions whether new technologies can truly supplant the basic information provided by dissection.
Vishy Mahadevan is Professor of Surgical Anatomy and Barbers’ Company Reader in Anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons.
