Description

Catalysis for Energy
Research and Technologies to help solve the World Energy Challenge

UK Climate change appears to be real and there is a strong need to develop alternative, sustainable sources of clean energy fast. The catalysis community is called upon to deliver novel and imaginative solutions to combat an impending energy crisis. Whilst there are superb ideas out there, it is the transfer gap between basic science and industrial applications that needs to be overcome to advance new ideas at a speed commensurate with future requirements and legislation. This half-day workshop heralds the relaunch of IChemE’s Catalysis Subject Group, and is kindly hosted by Imperial College London. The event will provide a better understanding of current and future issues relating to the catalysis and reaction engineering of sustainable energy systems as one means of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Chaired by Ian Metcalfe (Newcastle University) and Klaus Hellgardt (Imperial College London), with special Guest Speaker Keith Guy.
