A discussion meeting on the life and work of the renowned scientist and writer J D Bernal
> Co-organised by Birkbeck College Crystallography Dept and the British Association General Section.

This event will include a showing of a film about J D Bernal based on an interview carried out last year with his former colleague, Alan Mackay. The film will be followed by a series of short presentations and a panel discussion on some of the issues raised, in particular the contemporary relevance of Bernal’s views on the relationship between science and society.

Speakers and panellists include Eric Hobsbawm, Hilary Rose, Stephen Rose, Fred Steward, Frank James, Brenda Maddox and Jerry Ravetz. The discussion will be chaired by David Dickson (SciDev.net).
