The Old Operating Theatre Museum Presents “The Long Walk” – A Complete History of London in One Day Long Guided Tour

The Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret, Southwark, provides an innovative historical guided walk for Museums and Galleries Month this May. On Saturday 31st May, Kevin Flude, Director of the Museum and expert leader of guided walks, will conduct a walk weaving through the City of London and Southwark, and taking in every period of London’s History – beginning with the origins of the name Londinium, and finishing in Bankside, London’s newest cultural quarter. The walk begins at 10am at Tower Hill Underground Station, finishing at a pub in Bankside at 8:30pm.

Divided into five sections, each exploring a particular period of London’s History, participants can either follow the entire walk, at a cost of £15, or join one or more of the 90 (approx) minute sessions, at £5 each. Tickets can be booked online, at https://express.ts.com/k?curator, and all funds raised will go towards development of the Old Operating Theatre Museum. Alternatively, walkers are welcome to seek sponsorship to help the Museum, which will be closed for essential restoration work while the walk takes place (closure runs from Monday 19th May until Wednesday 4th June).

The itinerary for the walk runs as follows. Participants may join at any of these locations, at the time specified. There will be a break for lunch in Smithfield at 1.30pm
