Description

You are warmly invited to the second of the Grant Museum’s Human / Nature events – Tarzan, the Ape Man (1959) on the Big Screen:

Tarzan, The Ape Man on the Big Screen

The second of the Museum’s classic film nights, the 1959 Tarzan, The Ape Man is essential viewing for all film- and nature-lovers. With scenes and sounds directly lifted from the 1932 original, this superb version
pays due homage to Edgar Rice Burrough’s story of action and adventure in the jungle. Dr Joe Cain, UCL Historian of Science, will introduce the film, and there will be a free glass of wine served during the interval.

As the tag-line stated in 1959: “Forgotten world of pygmy idol-worshippers! They challenge the taboos of a foreign land”.

The Human / Nature Series
In this series of special events, the Grant Museum will consider how natural history can teach us about human history, lives and societies. Through talks, exhibitions, specimen-handling activities and films the programme will aim to look at humans in a different context. What are the links between modern humans and the natural world?
