Description
Conservation practice is far less effective that it should be. Medicine was in a similar state in the 1970s and has radically changed with the adoption of evidence-based methods. The practice of evidence-based conservation is rapidly developing but the manner in which we currently monitor the success of projects often does not give the answers needed. Prof. Sutherland will suggest alternative more effective models that could be used and will use a range of examples to illustrate the problems. He will also describe how he is collaboratively developing evidence-based conservation and how he believes some small changes in practice can improve global conservation effectiveness.
