Description
The event will consist of two talks. Firstly Borja Ferrater of Carlos Ferrater Architects will discuss Barcelona Botanic Gardens where the juxtaposition of vertical corten steel panels and terraces of zigzag pathways, concrete drainage channels and retaining walls emphasises the angularity of the site and planting arrangements. The sharply angled concrete has been cut, sliced and inserted into the landscape.
In the second talk, Liza Fior of muf architecture/ art will examine the Museum Pavilion at St Albans, where the concrete facade uses oyster shell aggregate, reintroducing a Roman building material into the construction, while a tilted mirror soffit gives glimpses of the Roman mosaic floor inside.
