Description

The fifth and final seminar in the ESRC series on ‘Locating Technoscience: The Geographies of Science, Technology and Politics’

The final meeting will be held at University College London on the 13th of September 2007, and will be followed by a celebratory wine reception for all. In the final meeting of this series we are seeking to address the political and policy dimensions to the project of creating a ‘geography of scientific knowledge’. Speakers will introduce their work from a range of spaces at the boundaries between science and politics, scientific and artistic practice, and academia and public policy, including confirmed contributions so far from Hugh Gusterson (George Mason, Washington), Ian Welsh (Cardiff), Nicola Triscott (The Arts Catalyst), Kathryn Yusoff (Open University), Mara Miele (Cardiff), Emma Roe (Southampton), and Jon Agar (UCL).

In concluding our series, we hope to explore how spatial accounts of knowledge and power can contribute to the better governance of science, and consider the implications of ‘locating technoscience’ for all institutions involved in the production of knowledge.
