Description
ABSTRACT:
Although it is clear that the medial temporal lobes play a significant role in episodic memory, there is substantial disagreement about whether this region operates as a functional unit or whether the hippocampus, parahippocampal, and perirhinal cortices can be functionally differentiated. Based on a review of previous results from imaging studies of recognition memory, I will present a model suggesting that these three regions might each play a unique role in supporting episodic memory. I will also present new data testing various aspects of this model.
