Depression remains a major cause of morbidity with significant mortality, despite improvements in management. This conference aims to examine some areas in which important advances are being made, including epidemiology and biology of depression, a wide range of approaches to treatment, prevention, and an appreciation of the stigma of depression.

By the end of the meeting, delegates will have a better understanding of the nature, impact and treatment of depression.
