Description
Ideal Homes, Artificial Horizons asks what it now means to inhabit space. Since the late nineteenth century the organizing principles of technology have increasingly penetrated daily life, informing a new perception of the real. Cause and effect have become increasingly mediated. Representational surfaces such as TV and the Internet become a ubiquitous first hand experience of the real whilst concrete reality has been augmented with a corresponding sense of dematerialization. Ideal Homes, Artificial Horizons considers the home as a site that offers a living resolution of the contradictions between direct phenomenological experience of the Ideal Home book of Garden Plans world and these highly mediated experiences.
