Description

This conference starts from the patient’s perspective and develops our understanding of how we should perceive, manage and investigate the specific and non-specific responses to treatment. The vast burden of disease management within the NHS relates to chronic illness. From the information available, one of our most effective interventions for these conditions may be the process of care rather than any specific pharmaceutical agent. This conference will examine and dissect that process with a view to making us more effective through being more patient-centred.

Audience: Clinicians, CAM practitioners, clinical trial researchers, relevant industries

This conference includes the LANGDON-BROWN LECTURE, “The placebo effect and the power of belief” by Professor Irving Kirsch, Chair in Psychology, University of Hull
